2.Amalgamation with Brantford - No
3.The Green Hub is a new venue and we are in a
learning mode at this time. Renewable energy will be the way everyone will go
in the future, so we should all be aware and educate ourselves as much as we
can.
Solar Power is a very large component of the big
picture. Also, Wind Turbines are in the mix if used in the proper locations.
They will be part of the overall solution. We must be proactive and alert
to the fact that the power now generated and used abundantely will not be
available for ever as we are exhausting the supply at an alarming rate. We must
think of our children in years to come.
4.County of Brant has no control over what another
county i.e. Six Nations does concerning waste removal. County of Brant
has removed gasified incineration from our new OP as we at this time do
not have enough information and knowledge regarding this treatment to move
forward with the program.
5. Yes
6.Our magic number is 60%. All methods of waste
diversions are very costly to the taxpayer. I do feel that we must work at a
steady pace to ensure more waste diversion
whether it be in the form of Green Bins(Organics)
or other methods. Our landfill has approximately 10 years life
expectancy left and I do not feel that putting garbage
in the ground and burying it is the best
solution of disposing of garbage.
7.I would have to have much more information
regarding the topic to make an educated statement regarding this matter.
8. County of Brant does support the 100 Mile radius
for local home grown food. I would require more information regarding this
subject to make a good fair decision.
9. The people purchasing the farmland are
purchasing from private home owners. The owners of the land have their rights to
do what ever they wish. If in fact when the new land owners wish to
develop the said lands, they will have to go through the same process laid
out by the province as everyone else follows. We as a County of Brant do
not have the right to tell owners of farms what to do with their
property.
9b.I would follow the process and applications laid
out by the Province.
10.This procedure is mandated by the province
whereby the landowner must apply to the province for permission to use this
treatment. It is regulated by the province through permits issued to
each owner.Personally, I do not support the application of dewatered
sewage sludge on our farmland. We use groundwater as our source of
drinking water in parts of the County and I am not comfortable with the above
treatment possibly leeching into our aquifiers.
11.No, we have heard presentations from farm owners
who would be affected by this decision and I feel we must treat all farm owners
fairly.
12.Yes
12b. Since we have amalgamated we have acquired
several buildings throughout the County of Brant. We have a tax base of
approximately 35,000 people. Since the accessibility has moved forward, we as a
County cannot sustain and maintain all buildings to make them all accessible
and useable. We are certain that the users of the buildings will come
forward and take over the maintenance of the buildings because if they are
owned
privately, the accessibility factor would be lower.
13a. No
13b.I do not think this pertains to the County
of Brant.
14.The Brick Factory meets all Provincial rules and
regulations. If in the future the mandates are not followed, we will
notify Province to do more strigent checks at more frequent times.
15.It is very difficult to say that we as a County
would not enter into agreements with Private Partnerships. In other communities
it has been very successful. It would certainly
have to be very well thought out development before
we would enter into such decision making.
16.a. All public information is on our
County website
b. Yes, I feel you have the right to come as a
delegation, when all procedures are followed correctly.
c.Our in camera meetings are stipulated by the
clerk. There is a procedure laid out by the province in our
"Policies and Prodcedures" manual that we must follow
concerning in
camera meetings
17.Whether transportation be by rail or road,
the trucks must transport goods from point A to point B. Without this
corridor, we will not be functional as a community.
Also, If the province decides to move the road to another part of the area, it will still eat up farmland. At this point I do not know of another way of transporting goods.
